Pirate Day

Yesterday (Monday 19 April) was the first day of term. To get us into our new topic - The Value Of Money - we had a Pirate day. Everyone in Rooms 6 and 7 (except Mr. Riley) dressed up as a scurvy dog. There was a great variety of costumes ranging from black eye patches and red bandannas to big ebony boots and white shirts.

The first thing we did was the shipmate booty hunt based on The Amazing Race. My team (Chloe, Helen and I) were the first to check in, so we were first to leave. Most clues were easy to find and rather easy to follow. The tasks included blowing up balloons and tying them to chairs, shooting balls into a hoop and looking at a picture then finding the place in the school it depicted.

After maths we joined Room 6 in their classroom for a Pirate party. We played a fun game of Pass the Parrot, then got on to eating the delicious grub that Room 6 had provided. There were ship's biscuits (chocolate digestives), eel egg rings (donuts with sprinkles), fish fingers (chocolate fingers) and apple cake to ward off the scurvy.

During the afternoon we played pirate games on the bottom field. The games we played were Rob the Pirate Ship (sea dog version of Bank Robbery), Catch the Egg with water balloons, Catch a Cannonball (catching water bombs) and Pirates and Parrots.

All this left me yearning for my bottle of rum (water) and wishing my voyage round the Seven Seas would never end.

Yo-ho-ho!

  5. Jenny that was definitely good and I can only half believe that you didn't think it was. I completely agree with everything that Shamar said. I would have known enough to summarize the day beautifully.

  9. Donkey Language

Barnaby the donkey lived in the big green field next to the orchard in Greenheys Farm.Barnaby's field was large, with plenty of space for him to run about.Jane and Jenny, the farmers daughters, visited him several times everyday and lots of other people came to see him too.Barnaby liked that. But all the same it wasn't quite the same as having a friend of his own, someone he could talk to,who understood his language.Donkey, however, can generally understand all but the longest words in our human language.Humans have never quite been able to understand it.Jane and Jenny had come out to his field to see him. They talked about a pony.Their daddy said that they can have one just as soon as they think of somewhere for him to live.Barnaby was very happy to have a friend that understand his language.Barnaby was braying but they just didn't understand what he was saying.Barnaby brayed that the pony can stay there with him. Then suddenly Jane got an idea. The pony can live in there with Barnaby. She was sure that Barnaby wouldn,t mind. She believe he understood what they have been saying. She bet that was what all that braying was about.Barnaby and Alexander the pony had lots of visitors everyday. They knew that she sounds they heard from Barnaby were happy brays and Alexander's neighs were happy neighs.
