On the 5th of April Room 7 was shown how to use Microsoft Excel.
Microsoft Excel can be used for making charts and graphs. To make your graph or chart press and hold the button command or apple and while holding apple press X. Now your graph will disappear. Now minimize your excel by pressing the little yellow button and open Microsoft Word. Hold apple and then press V. Now your graph is in Microsoft word.

PE Assessment
On Monday Room 7 did a PE skills assessment.
We did it in our thinking pairs. The activities were throwing a tennis ball into a hoop, throwing a big green ball and a tennis ball to each other and the ball bouncing at least ten metres across the court, another one Mrs Browne watched us and throw a tennis ball to each other. At the end of every activity you and your partner assess each other-eg circle the face you got. There were three smiley faces, one of them was happy, one of them was felling ok and the last one looked grim and angry.

PE assessment
On Monday Room 7 did a PE assessment.
We went round PE stations with our thinking pairs and
marked them on how they completed the task. [There were five stations]
My partner was William and I got full marks.
The stations were mostly passing skills except for one activity,which involved throwing into a target. They
were quite fun.

PE Assessment
On Monday we did a PE assessment. We did a throwing and catching assessment. We had to do the activity with our thinking partner. Then we had to either give ourselves a smiley face, a straight face or a sad face depending on how well we did.

Microsoft Excel
On Tuesday room 7 was leaning how to use Microsoft Excel.
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet and you can use it for scores, which is what room7 used it for. You also can use it for financial things like shares. We were allowed to mess around with Microsoft Excel me and Dominic made a 3D line graph. Mrs B said it was a bit hard to read. Dominic's favourite graph was the donut graph and mine was the pie graph, but nether was appropriate for what we were doing and that was graphing spelling scores.

Using Excel
On Thursday for in Inquiry we used Microsoft Excel. We found out that you can make graphs out of it and display scores like our weekly spelling tests.
First we made a graph about spelling then we got to explore what other type of graphs there were. My group found out there are a few graphs. We also found out that you can get take your graph onto a word page. When you first went on Excel you needed to know how to work a spreadsheet. We had to all work together. Once we had entered the scores onto the spreadsheet, we had to highlight the scores and put them in the graph. By putting your scores in a graph you can see if you have doing better or worse.

Wahine Blog
On Monday Room 7 did a diary entry about the Wahine disaster in 1968 . We wrote it during our Quick Write.
This is my Quick Write.
I was on the wahine and when I looked out of the window and I saw huge waves crashing onto the boat. I felt really scared. The boat was shaking heaps and it crashed onto a rock and sank. There was lots of water going into the boat.
I was lucky because I got in a life boat and I got to the shore.

The Wahine Disaster

People were running with gear to help all the people. I was crying because all my friends and my dad were on board. We ran to the closest shore and started pushing and pulling at boats and some people were even swimming out. The people that were helping only rescued a few people but at least they managed to save some people.
I hope I don't see anything like this in Wellington again.

The Peer Mediation Meeting
On Tuesday the 29th of March the peer mediators from Crofton Downs Primary School went to their mediation meeting in Room 6.
There were a lot of people there, about 30 maybe less. We discussed things like our roster and knowing if we were still able to do our shift on our particular day. Mrs G had to take a photo of all of us one by one and a group photo of the peer mediators. We also talked about the problems we had. There were two plays about a problem that some peer mediators had, but they didn't solve it themselves, so we discussed that if we have a problem and it's between two peer mediators that we have to solve it our selves.

PE lesson
On Monday the 28th of March our class did P.E. on the back court. We played three games. The first game was called Pattern Ball, the second game was called Zig Zag the last one was Corner Spry.
Pattern Ball was about following a pattern by remembering who passed to you and who you passed to. Zig zag was about a group of six people standing in a Zig Zag position and passing the ball in a zig zag. Corner Spry was when you had a group of four and were standing in a fan shape with one person at the point of the fan and you had to pass to the other people back and forth and once you had passed it to everyone you had to run round and group and take up a new position.
We were doing all of these activities to improve our learning with passing and catching large balls.

Learning Throwing and Catching
On the 29th of March Room7 went out to P.E.

Today in Literacy I introduced some of Room 7 to our class blog. We began by looking at an old post that was written by a student in 2010. The students are going to begin adding regularly to this blog about things that they have been learning in class or activities they have been participating in. The class would like people who read the blog posts to make comments. The blog also gives the students to have some of their quality pieces available to be shared outside the classroom.
